I asked Alan if that was an earlier location of the Salvation Army that I could see the logo of down below. He replied: "The logo is on a shop at the corner of Bradstone Road & New street, it was occupied by Reginald Percy Hawkins, Boot Repairer from 1912 to c1952. The logo reads The Nugget ? The premises were demolished in 1973 and the site has not been developed again."
Alan told me that the photo above will be in the new book he is working on at present, and alongside will be a modern photograph of that location taken from the same angle. How generous of him to allow us this sneak preview! Thank you so much Alan.
