Here's a gem of an old commercial that Fred Whyment sent me. I think you will recognise the 'Worm', and if I am not mistaken, the teacher is being played by Keith Clifford.
The spoilers have been moved to the bottom of the page, so people can look at the videos below without their eye catching something they would rather not see.
A short video when Britain was preparing to watch Vera's last episode
Who remembers Maureen Lipman as Lilian Spencer, the new Rovers Landlady? This clip shows her (unwelcome by some) arrival. You will also get a quick glimpse of our Curly Watts.
A preview of a program Liz Dawn did against the evils of smoking.
This next one will get moved up into the non-spoilers eventually, but most of these events have not yet happened outside the UK. It's a great collection of slaps, beer throwing and punches.
OK, so this one has absolutely nothing to do with Coronation Street, but I just loved it so put it here so I could look at it whenever I needed a lift. If only our own species could get along like this!
Going right back to 1938 with this one. Betty Driver (Betty Williams) starred in the film Penny Paradise, and here she is singing 'Stick Out Your Chin & Smile". After this one is over, you just might see a link to another song she sang in the same film called 'You Can't Have Your Cake and the Penny Too'.
For Graeme Proctor lovers!
On the left, Graeme using his chatup lines at Jason & Tina's party. (This one is a spoiler for non-UK)
On the right, Craig Gazey accepting his award for Best Newcomer at the 2009 British Soap Awards.
Here is the classic Corrie version of Lionel Bart's 'Oliver', based of course on the book by Dickens. The cast came in on their days off to film this brilliant masterpiece to raise money for the Children In Need charity.
Some of the Corrie cast performing at the Royal Gala in 1966, with the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh sitting up in the Royal Box
This is Vernon desperately trying to hold onto Liz by singing her a song he wrote. This Corrie clip was banned from being embedded onto other websites, so to get around this, the fellow on YouTube, (he calls himself Vernon Tomlin) added extras of his own to the video. Time will tell if they leave it on there.
This clip features comedienne and actress Jayne Bickerton (Yana)as phone room girl Mary Unfaithful with Lily Savage (Paul O Grady)- Husband & wife presenters, Richard Madeley & Judy Finnegan, author Jackie Collins and Gray O' Brien (now Tony Gordon)
Here we have Jayne Bickerton a few years back recalling a few of her favourite Corrie characters.
Here is Jayne again, just before the exhibition of her art work opened. She is on the Paul O'Grady show, showing everyone how to make a priceless work of art with a few paints, a bit of card and an electric drill!
Kevin Webster covers the history of Coronation Street in 49 seconds on The Hour TV Show.
Who's going over to celebrate Fred Whyment's birthday in 2010? Well I just found this little gem on You Tube that will help you find the best places to go while you are in Manchester, and your guide here is Fred's son Andy - who plays Kirk Sutherland. The clip is a little old, because the girlfriend he mentions is now not only his wife, but the mother of his adorable son. But I hope Shimla Pinks is still there, because I want to try it when I get there!
Remember the cute little Craig Harris? Well, here is Richard Fleeshman, who played him, on Loose Women
So now of course, we have to have one of Richard singing.
I was just alerted to this long lost gem. It's our own Kathy Jones singing on the Arrows Show in 1976. The song is called 'Down Our Street', and she could have been singing about Coronation Street, or a thousand other streets of the day.
It's delightful, and I thank the person who made it available on You Tube!
The Arrows incidentally are Alan Merrill and Jake Hooker.
This one, starring Rosie Webster, Luke Strong & Michelle Connor was deleted from the show before it aired, as on sober second thought, they decided it was too risqué for early evening viewing.
Ant & Dec star in this contest between a Corrie and Emmerdale scene. They each get together with the writers and actors of the two soaps, and a panel of judges decide whose scene is the best.
So here they are. Much as I love Corrie, I think my money is on Emmerdale. How about you?
This one had me helpless with laughter! I found it a lot funnier than Bradley Walsh did at the time! LOL!!
Ken & Deirdre have certainly had their ups and downs over the years. I think Ken has Deirdre beaten when it comes to affairs, but this was the aftermath of her only really serious extra-marital entanglement.
They have managed to stay together on and off for many years, but it has never been a union of passion, or even real affection - they have no interests in common, and if they didn't have other people living with them, they probably wouldn't speak to each other for months on end.
Because of the storyline currently beginning in Canada, it seemed like a good time to remind people of what their marriage was like for Deirdre after only two years.
